Have a Good Time With Your Kids With Living Scriptures

By Yvonne Brixey

Keeping the Sabbath day Holy can sometimes be a tough thing to do, when there is so much garbage on TV and in the media. Living Scriptures is a series of animated stories that are great for Sunday afternoon entertainment. A group of Mormon men, Orson Scott Card, James Rich and Richard James, got together created this wonderful product for Mormon and other Christan families, Living Scriptures animated stories.

The majority of the Living Scriptures animated videos are geared toward the LDS or Mormon children, but families of other Christian faiths will also enjoy some of the videos. The bible story videos are good for anyone who believes in the bible. All the famous stories of the bible have been turned into an animated video for the Living Scriptures in the bible story videos. They have stories about people such as Abraham and Isaac, Joseph in Egypt, Noah and Daniel. These stories from the Living Scriptures are familiar to all faiths, not just the Mormon faith.

The Living Scriptures also has many wonderful products directly for those of the Mormon faith. There is an entire animated stories series about the Book of Mormon. This series includes stories about Nephi, Abinadi and King Noah, Alma and the Brother of Jared. These are all great scripture stories for your children to learn, and they will also come away with a moral about life and how to be a better person.

Also, the Living Scriptures has a series about called the Modern Prophets Hero animated videos. This is a series with a video about each of the modern prophets from Joseph Smith to Gordon B. Hinckley. These have more modern stories that may help you and your children relate to the prophets in the church.

If you are not of the Mormon faith, or are not a very religious person, Living Scriptures still has something for you. The hero classics series has videos about famous people throughout history, living or those who have passed. Some of those people include George Washington, Harriet Tubman, Abraham Lincoln, Pocahontas and many others. This is a great way for your children to watch a movie, but also learn about history. If you are a teacher, this may also be a great resource for your classroom. Be sure you get copyright permission to show the videos in your school, but once you do, this could be a great resource for you when teaching social studies.

The Living Scriptures has something for everyone. If you are not of the Mormon faith, or are not religious, they still have something for you! If you are interested and are wondering how to get a copy of this wonderful product, there are many ways to purchase the Living Scriptures. They are available at Deseret Book, which is a book store created by the LDS church, but has many resources for people of other Christian faiths as well.
