Maintaining Your Beat Making Creativeness

By Alan Jadson

If you have been making beats for a while, you'll be aware that there are times when your energy and creativeness levels are high, while there are other times when it's actually hard to keep yourself incentivized to form good work.

Whenever things are going well, it can be easy to be certain that you are producing engaging beats. When things don't appear to be going well, the whole thing can often go from bad to much worse, and will generally continue doing so.

If you're not feeling too creative, it could be a sensible idea to take five, if you're in a position to. Occasionally, it can help to take a little time out, away from the beat maker software. This may allow your grey matter to recharge. If you come at things fresh, you may find that concepts start flowing again.

Actually intense work, like mixing down a very important track, can have a massive effect on your capability to write new material. If you are having a lot of difficulty with this, it could be worth pondering the way in which you structure your producing and writing work. As an example, if you find mixing drains you, try and prepare things so you do it in a managed block, away from your writing time.

It may also help you to get your creativity flowing again, if you try a new tack. Experimenting, without expecting something to come of it, frequently provides decent results, as well as a way to stretch the brain in a new direction. Trying out different genres or styles will help you with your most important beat writing work, most of the time.

Bear in mind that there will be plenty of occasions when you will have tops of energy and creativity. Try to make certain you get the most from those periods, without burning yourself out. You can try and work out when you be at your best, but do not build up too many expectancies, as to when you will be at your top. Too much build up can be lethal to your creativeness as a beat maker.
