Delicious Snacks To Buy At A Movie

By Alan Lott

Like millions of other Americans I love going to the movie theater. One of the things I look forward to the most is the food available there. Okay, I know it's not the healthiest in the world, and is vastly overpriced, but it's good to treat yourself once in a while and it enhances the experience for me.

This is my list of favorite movie food that is available in the theaters. These aren't in any special order; I just wrote them down as I thought of them.

More and more movie theaters are now offering Nachos. It's a perfect movie food, if you eat it quietly! The hot cheese and salted chips are delicious washed down with an ice cold soda.

For nearly 20 years now, a favorite food in movie theaters has been hot pretzel bites. These are delicious alone or dipped in cheese. Another plus is that they are a lower fat option as opposed to Nachos, so those counting calories can still enjoy movie food.

If you prefer candy to savory snacks, the Sour Patch Kids has long been one of the biggest sellers in our movie theaters. The contrast between sweet and sour is extremely popular, and these small candies are really addictive.

It always amazes me why there are some firm movie favorites that just don't sell well in stores. The main three that this has happened to are Goobers, Sno-caps and Junior Mints. They sell by the bucket load in every movie theater in the US but people just don't seem to consider buying them at any other time.

There are numerous fountain sodas available, and which one you choose is very much a personal choice. The fastest growing movie is not a soda, but a flavored drink that is basically a cup of flavored ice. The popularity of these is growing quickly and shows no sign of diminishing.

The original, and to me the best, movie theater food is of course popcorn. Despite many challenger to its crown over the years, the humble popcorn still rules supreme as the most popular movie food across the globe.
