How To Book A Band For A Wonderful Party!

By Dannii Symes

Preparing for any type of function can be a laborious task. Securing a venue, inviting guests and waiting for their reply, booking a caterer to assure that they food is perfect and be sure that the choice that made for decorations is spot on, are all daunting and usually cause frustration. Although one of the most important determinations you have to make, choosing between a Disc Jockey or to book a band is one of the simplest.

A DJ has become the most recent choice, but not always for the right reasons. Of course they are the easiest choice, because they show up, turn on the music and the party starts. However, there are major limitations that hiring live entertainers can eliminate.

Using someone who spins records, requires that your venue has a high quality sound system. They seldom travel with their own and even if they do, it is generally not designed for a large facility. Considering that this is the sound of your party, the quality of their sounds are crucial. With live music, this is not a consideration. A band will arrive with instruments and sound system in tow, so you get professional sounds after a few sound checks.

When you book live music, your options are broader and in most cases, you can customize the music better. First off, they will bring their own sound system. If the group is accustomed to playing these types of venues, they are better suited to supply quality sound, so after a couple of sound checks, they are ready to rock and roll. By selecting live performers, it is also easier to include them into your theme, whether it be sound or appearance, you have more choices.

In many situations, a DJ is a frustrated entertainer. They actually wish they were in a band! Your party may offer them the option of performing, but seldom will you find the next American Idol portraying themselves as a record spinner!! Having live music with a professional lead singer and quality back ups, will present a true compliment to your party.

Costs will definitely be different. One DJ will surely be less expensive than hiring a band. However, the diversity of live music will overshadow the differences in cost. The Disc Jockey may act as a Master of Ceremonies for you, but the leader of the band can be that and much more.

If budget is a major hurdle, you may be limited with your choices and perhaps a DJ will be less expensive, but the overall performance and appreciation from your guests will justify the additional expense. Consider if there are times when songs are being done as part of the party. In other words, perhaps a first dance or introductions. A live band will be able to handle all of those circumstances easier than constantly interrupting a recording.

If you book a band, the party will have an entirely different flavor. Perhaps the next winner of American Idol will be tearing up every song. The lead guitar may be the next Eric Clapton and the drummer may be as entertaining as Ringo Starr. This is the personality of your party, so make your choice wisely and everyone will have a great time, while you dance the night away knowing that you made the best choice!!
