Celebrities from the 1980s were admired for their talent in the film, television and music industries. They were also admired for their sense of fashion.

Royal icon Princess Diana was praised for her effortless beauty and her kind heart. Her popularity among the nation meant she became an icon both for her generosity and her impeccable fashion. Fans were so fond of Princess Diana that they often copied her look. Numerous fashion labels, shops and designers would create pieces that were similar to outfits Diana had worn. This allowed her followers to wear their own pieces of royal clothing. Diana's hairstyle was also iconic and women across the country who admired her chose to have their hair styled in a similar way.

Michael Jackson caused a storm in the 1980s when he went solo. Michael Jackson gained his fame through his successful career when he was a member of The Jackson 5, during the 1970s. The tight leather outfits, shiny shoes and iconic white glove, along with Michael Jackson's jet black curly mullet hairstyle, continues to be a look that is recognised as being intrinsic with Michael Jackson. Another fashion icon was Madonna who appealed to the female audience during the 1980s. Her striking outfits caused uproar and as a result, many girls and women were keen to experiment with their own look. The way Madonna continually transformed her look ensured that she always gained media attention. The infamous band Queen were a musical phenomenon, loved for their music as well as their style. Their mullets which featured in Bohemian Rhapsody became a signature look in the 1980s. Today, the mullet hairstyle is very much associated with the 80s.

From actors to a singing sensation, Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue were popular in the music industry and were adored by fans across the world. The couple's first single 'Especially for You' was a huge hit and the couple were admired greatly for their sense of style. Both characters wore perms with pride which lead to a rise in the number of fans getting similar hairstyles.

The 1980s was time brimming with stylish celebrities, including Baywatch's David Hassellhoff and Pamela Anderson. The arrival of Baywatch, the American TV series in the 1980s, introduced Pamela Anderson's signature red swimwear. Boy George was another stylish celebrity, who embraced flamboyant camp looks, which involved wearing bright prints, colourful make up and long hair. Fashion lovers across the world continue to love and celebrate the stylish celebrities who emerged in the 1980s.
