Tom Hanks' Greatest Roles In Throughout His Career

By Russell Collins

Let's talk about Tom Hanks. I cannot say that Mr. Hanks is one of my favorite actors per se, but do I respect his talent? Absolutely. In fact, I can admit that he is probably one of the top 5 most talented actors working today, and I think that shows if you look at his trophy case and choices of roles.

There's a lot to like about Tom Hanks, and as such I feel he deserves one of my patented top 5 lists.

The first film to mention is Forrest Gump, which I almost feel I have to get out of the way. It is such an amazing movie and if you have yet to see it, you are depriving yourself of viewing one of the best movies of the past few decades.

Another great movie of this incredibly talented actor is Catch Me If You Can. Steven Spielberg directs this cat and mouse drama that also stars Leonardo DiCaprio as the real life crook Frank Abagnale, Jr.

One other great movie of his is of course, Saving Private Ryan. Any time you put Spielberg and Hanks together, you are going to get a quality movie. Any time you put Spielberg in charge of directing a WWII film, and you are likely to have a masterpiece.

One Tom Hanks movie that may not have gotten the mainstream praise which it deserved was The Green Mile. Hanks plays a jail guard who patrols a special prisoner on death row. This is an amazing movie.

Another movie that I have a special affinity for is Turner and Hooch. Growing up, I had a Dogue De Bordeaux, which is the type of dog that Hooch was. Subsequently, this was a family favorite of ours.

If there is a film I left off this list, do not worry. Tom Hanks always manages to make incredible movies and this list will have to be reevaluated in a few years.
