Know Which One Of The Connecticut Radio Stations To Listen To

By Elise Clayton

Turn the dial to get to the frequency you want. In no time, you will hear sounds coming out of the speakers. When it reaches your ears, you could always turn the dial again if you do not really like what you are hearing. There are different radio stations Connecticut has for its listeners.

Whether you have to turn the dial or if it just a matter of clicking the link, you always have different types to choose from. It is entirely up to the listener on how long they want to stay in one particular frequency. What they do to ensure that their listeners prefer one over the others is by matching their format with their target audience. Here are a few of the formats that are commonly playing on the airwaves.

You may have the oldies format. A more apt name for this format would be golden hits. In a way this is quite a broad format. Considering that it could range from the 50's to 90's music. What it makes sure is that the old songs played are considered as gold.

You may have the personality format. With this format, it is more of talk than music. It relies on the personality who may be hosting, co-hosting or even as a guest. This may include certain commentary and parody on current events. This seeks to entertain listeners primarily with this. It could even include interviews and features on some famous and interesting personalities, with a bit of music in between.

You may have the rock format. This is also one format that has become even more diverse. With the advent of mixed and sub genres of rock, the format tends to fall within the different stylistic ranges.

There is the smooth jazz format. This is mainly for providing a relaxed environment. There is no need to even tune in and focus on what the notes and lyrics are. It is aimed to let the listeners simply relax and have good music in the background that would not be too distracting to what is going on.

You could go with standards. If it is not under the rock category, it may be played on this station. It could be the standard hits for the past six decades. Or, it could even feature current renditions of a standard hit.

There is the urban format. Soul and hip-hop are only a few of the genres that can be found on its programming. These are targeted to pique the interest of young adults and teenagers, as they are the target audience. For adding more appeal to adults, soul and r and b hits around 20 years older or more could be added.

Those are just some of the formats currently heard on the different radio stations Connecticut. With a varied selection, you may even find one to match your mood every time. But, should you want to remain loyal to just one, you can always tune in to your personality and tastes to tune in to the right frequency.
