Jazz New Orleans Style

By Cedric Fairchild

The New Orleans Jazz National Historic Park is not only just a place where you can listen to some cool music. It is also an important landmark and a definite addition to every visitor's plans. The Park itself is situated in the French Quarter but Park officials also welcome people at the newer Perseverance Hall, over at Armstrong Park. This new hall has finally been finished after numerous problems and obstacles, both man made and natural, endangered the project itself, according to a WWLTV.com report. The project was originally put forward more than ten years ago. Today, despite several setbacks, such as the destruction caused by Hurricane Katrina, Perseverance Hall stands tall and proud in the Armstrong Park. Sources claim that this building was renovated at a cost of $4 million.

The Armstrong Connection

The Armstrong Park is a great location for the new Jazz park extension. The park's namesake, Louis Armstrong, was a international jazz icon. Park officials believe that this link will only serve to bring more jazz fans to this place. After all, listening to the music being performed at this locale while taking a tour of the various historic buildings in this area is bound to be a truly unique experience for tourists. There are various regular programs that are currently being performed at this venue. These are funded by the present fund of $1.3 million that has been set aside for this specific purpose.

Expectations for the Future

However renovating and opening up the various other historic sites here will require considerably more money, say Park officials. A lot of these structures have sustained some considerable damage throughout the years of neglect. Meanwhile, the "Friends of Armstrong Park" group is still holding out some hope that the original plan of the park authorities will occur some time in the foreseeable future. This plan, if put into effect, could have brought all the multiple venues of National Jazz Park to just one location at Armstrong Park.

In New Orleans, you can find a music festival for every single season. Therefore there is invariably something to do when you have had your fill of the Jazz Park. For those who have music in your blood and can't help but croon along to every tune you hear, then this is designed for you to wind down. Merely select the best event and stop by to experience some of the best music the world has ever heard. The French Quarter festival, Voodoo festival, the Ponderosa Stomp- these are just a few of the music fests you can enjoy here.

Make sure that your accommodations don't strike a discordant note in your getaway by choosing only the best places to stay. You'll find a bluegreen resort, the Club La Pension at the edge of the French Quarter, setting you in the ideal place to drop in at Armstrong Park. You'll certainly agree that listening to wonderful music in the evening and coming 'home' to a warm, comfy room at night is the best way to spend your yearly trip.
