When discussing the greatest actors working in Hollywood, Russell Crowe is one person who definitely deserves some praise. Crowe got his start in acting in the late 1970s on television. It may have taken some time, but the New Zealand native has risen up the ranks to become one of the better actors in the industry.
But which Russell Crowe films are the best? Here are some of my favorites.
The Insider is the first movie that makes the list for me. This movie focuses on the harsh truths of the cigarette industry, and one man who is trying to let the world know. Paranoia starts setting in, however, as the cigarette industry is not looking to have their secrets exposed on national television.
Another movie that certainly makes my list is L.A. Confidential. This movie can definitely be qualified as film noir, and may not be for everybody, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. No wonder it's ranked as the number 64 greatest film of all time according to imdb.com.
Of course, it goes without saying that any list of Russell Crowe films would have to include Gladiator. This is easily my favorite film of his, and with good reason. It came as little surprise that this film won the Academy Award for Best Picture of the Year.
Another movie that showcases Crowe's talent is A Beautiful Mind. This movie was directed by Ron Howard and also stars Paul Bettany, Jennifer Connelly, Ed Harris and Christopher Plummer. A must see film.
The last movie that makes the cut for me is Cinderella Man. Any time you are going to take Ron Howard, Russell Crowe, Rene Zellweger, and put them behind an inspirational boxing film based on a true story, you are going to hit gold.
I would have included The Quick and the Dead on this list, but I really wanted to limit it to five movies and while I loved this movie, it does not compare to the aforementioned five.
