Shows, Musicals, Plays, And Theatre Toronto

By Janet Dean

Toronto is great for shows, plays, musicals, and theatre Toronto. People come here from all over to enjoy great events and entertainment. One fact that has made it popular is the cost of its Broadway-style creations. They cost less than other cities such as Chicago and New York and they're near great dining, hotels, and shopping. Here is a list of the most popular places for such events.

The North York Performing Arts Centre is made of two theatres. While one seats around 1700, the other seats about 1000 individuals. The most renowned dances, operas, musicals, and dramas are carried out here. The location is convenient because it is near central downtown as well as Sheppard subway stops.

Two elegant theatres make up the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts. Opera performances, classical music performances, comedy, and improv are enjoyed by its guests. It is located in the St. Lawrence neighborhood, which is the oldest in the city. This venue and this area are worth the visit.

The Soulpepper was founded by artists in 1997. Since its birth, some of the most brilliant performances in the world have been performed here. It is a classical repertory and presents performances in Canadian interpretations. It also gives training to young artists.

The Sony Centre is also called the Hummingbird Stage and it was originally constructed for a variety of events. However, it has mostly lent itself to musicals like opera and ballet. The greatest in the industry have performed on this stage and it is still very popular.

The Roy Thomson Hall seats around 2800 and it is where the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and the Mendelssohn Choir play. It was founded in 1982 and is in the King St. District. Its unique and beautiful curvilinear design makes it a city landmark. Musical performances are its specialty.
