By Judy Jones, Ray Stanley

The art of music does not always require knowing to read it. It is however, a language and like other languages, some people can play it, even without knowing how to read music. The main ingredients are the rhythm, pitch and tone. It is such an arrangement of these characteristics, that it gives pleasure and happiness, when the creation is beautiful and touching.

It is the unique combination of notes, which provides and is instrumental in giving life a new dimension. It creates and stimulates such emotions, that it usually moves the person with the relevant emotion. It is well established that it is made up of resonance and the vibrations created can do miracles. Some notes are natural, some are flat and some are sharp.

The two formats of clef sign are treble, which is used for flute, trumpet etc, that is for high pitched instruments; and bass for instruments like tuba etc. This sign indicates the notes and the assigned octave. These two formats can do wonders in terms of creating melody.

The clef sign indicates the octave and the notes to be played. Based on the instrument, the clef sign is written in either treble or bass format. The treble clef is used for higher pitched instruments like flute, violin, trumpet etc. The bass clef is written for bass instruments such as trombone, tuba etc.

During the three centuries hundreds of notation systems have been projected as options to prove upon the traditional notations. These notations are known as Chromatic staff notations. Such a system does not require the use of standard key signature, accidentals, and clef signs. In such notations the interval relationship is used more accurately and also in comparison to the traditional notation.

The measures divide the portion into groups of beats and the time signature denotes these assemblages. Directions about reading music such as tempo and the effects of notes appear above or below the staff. Lyrics are written for vocals. Short gaps are added to bring the lyrics into a rhythmic form.

To represent the changes in tempo and volume, there are certain denotations, which make the composition enjoyable or boring. Certain symbols such as ties, holds, rests, repeats indicate various formats, which help to add uniqueness to the created composition.

It is best to take some classes to understand intricacies of music. To bring the fineness to the created music piece and give a touch of uniqueness and class, it is important to understand, how to read music.
