Is Janet Spencer on Doomsday Preppers Right?

By Terrance Franklin

Janet Spence is like a human pack rat. Her practices on the subject of storing food items are a great model to someone who uses the excuse of not possessing sufficient accessible space (myself included). She also has vital lessons to help train those of you who are living with people who never want to be doomsday preppers.

Stimulated to Preparation in Great Falls

The stressful situations of the Helena Train blast inspired Janet to prep. Having had her electrical power cut out and no method to contact the rest of the world, Janet feared the most worst. Many people who were either troubled by the situations of Hurricane Sandy or who perhaps viewed it in the media are in a similar position. We have noticed how bad it can get and now we have the option to prepare or keep our heads inside the sand.

An altruistic prepper, Janet is anxious for her own survival right after a prospective nuclear assault on the Helena military system. But she's much more worried about the well-being of the possible survivors of this type of nuclear strike. In order to take care of them, she should be able to take care of their urgent requirements, beginning with food.

Full sized bed of food items

Janet finds herself in a situation that we have witnessed several preppers face before. Her spouse does not support her prepping and wants absolutely no part of this. In order to continuously prep Janet is enforced to do so secretly. People say need is the mother of invention, and it has certainly brought about some imaginative ways to store food stuff in Janet's home.

Janet has an interesting twist on the previous savings in the mattress technique. She claims that the quantity of foodstuff she has below her bed weighs several thousand pounds. Though it may be a California King, in fact a little bed can probably keep a few months of food if the frame is deep enough. Urban preppers please note.

Maxi pads for bandages

Janet had the smart idea of stocking up on feminine items to use as unexpected supplies. For preppers who like to coupon it is a fantastic way to make use of the regular sales on all pf these to stock up. Perhaps without coupons they could often be less costly than standard bandages. Chock this up with fish anti-biotics for your listing of ghetto medical items.

An appealing side note: kotex pads had in fact been modified from bandages that were used during world war I. They were used by nurse practitioners on the front in that way and once the war was over, the Kimberly-Clark company switched gears over to female items. Thus if anybody criticizes you for using pads for bandages you have some ammunition.

A great idea?

According to FEMA, Helena would probably be a tertiary goal in case of a nuclear attack. If tertiary targets will be hit this will probably indicate that the major as well as secondary targets are actually taken out initially. This indicates an enormous assault that would definitely mess up the US system. Without help as you go along, Janet must look into whether she wants to feed 6,000 individuals for one meal or perhaps two people for 3,000. It's a tough call however let's be sensible here - how is she going to assist survivors if she is starved to death?
