I went with one of my old roommates to Africa a while ago, and while we were there, we happened to stumble upon some surprising fun in African cinema, specifically Ghana movies. Prior to this trip, I had never heard anything about these movies made in Africa, but soon enough, I was learning all about the great movies that represent the unique cultures in Africa. While we did spend a good deal of our time visiting cultural sites, restaurants and other tourist spots, the thing that I enjoyed the most about the trip was watching a new movie every night back in our hotel room.
When we got back home to the United States, we went back to the daily grind, and soon after our trip she got married, and we sort of lost contact over time. So you definitely say that I was a bit stunned when she called me one day and said she was bringing over a movie for us to watch. I was delighted by this news, and assumed that she would just be bringing the latest release from Hollywood.
So, you can imagine how eager I was when she arrived with a copy of one of the very best movies that we had watched on our trip. We had a complete blast watching this movie again, and I even found that I enjoyed it more watching it the second time around.
After the movie, we talked for a long while about how much we missed watching all of the Ghana movies like the one we just saw. My friend told me that she had been really missing those movies, so she had hopped online and had found a website where they had all of those wonderful movies from Ghana, as well as some Nigerian movies.
I could hardly contain my excitement and I immediately grabbed my laptop and looked up the address she told me. And there on my computer were the very movies that we had watched on our trip to Africa, as well as a large number of new releases from the thrilling world of African movies. Together, we perused the website, laughing about some of the movies we had seen, and before she left, we had both placed pretty big orders for movies that we couldn't wait to watch together over and over, so that we would always keep those memories of our trip together fresh in our minds.
