Why The Korg M1 Was Very Popular

By Thomas Penske

One of the worlds best and most acknowledged music workstation is the Korg M1. It is one of the best because it enables musicians and especially music producers to make the perfect professional arrangement. It is one of the most bought digital synthesizers due to the advantages it offers over the other of the competitors.

Low pass filters were mainly used to transfer and regulate the sound that passes into the amplifier. The amplifier of course is responsible for increasing the gain in the voltage produced by the note thus will become loud enough.

One of the advantages that it had was that it had many polyphony notes compared to other workstations thus production of sound was comprehensive.

The Korg unit has sampled music and sounds that are stored in the memory of the unit. It contains of an internal memory of 4 megabytes which were used to store the sounds. Most of them are even still in use up to today. It incorporated two presets in it sampling method. All this meant that the filter needed to have been made in a way that it offered no resonance.

It also offered the producers and musician the ability to combine many patches (mostly up to eight). They were made to play at the same time to produce an arrangement called combi. This was good for the producers and musicians generally because it enabled them to assemble very complex sounds. They could then be played by using the keyboard and even MIDI.

The ability to edit music entirely by just using the machine made the Korg M1 very popular among budding musicians and production houses. This meant that the editing of entire song was done is a quick way without having the artiste sing again. This was because it offered a lot of effects on its interface. These included flanger, reverb among others which could be used simultaneously.
