The activity looks simple, though it needs regular training and practice.

Artists have used this type of painting for many years and it is usually done on a paper. Other medium used include plastic, wood, canvas and leather. This form of art has basics that a beginner needs to learn in order to be successful. Due to the fact that paintings express messages or inner thoughts to people, it is crucial to know and understand the various techniques used. This includes the numerous styles that are used.

To begin with, one should learn how to blend of colors on a palette. This is by first knowing the result after mixing colors. A slight mistake when mixing colors result to very different shades, so one needs experience and practice in order to come up with the preferred shade. The subject matter of an artist is the type of paint and use of colors. This form of art involves accuracy in the way colors are mixed as well as techniques.

Colors in this form of art are removed easily by scrubbing as well as washing. It is a bit expensive since the paper that can be washed is expensive. What determines the quality is the weight of the paper and should weigh 140 to 300lb. Cheap ones weigh 90lb and do not withstand scrubbing or washing since they buckle. Paper being the main material people use, should be chosen carefully so that the final work can be admirable.

Utility knife and an eraser are the two tools that one can use to erase unwanted paints. Moreover, always choose your colors wisely so that your work does not appear muddy or very dark. When it is in such condition, erasing then becomes difficult and you can only redo the work. Use light paints first then add some effects using the dark ones. Doing this makes the rubbing process easy particularly when wet, leaving your work neat.

The work is also versatile due to the paint used, which works well with other paints, ink, pastels and pen. However, the challenge here is avoiding muddy work that ruins the appearance of the final image. To avoid this, start with transparent colors such as, aureollin yellow, alizarin crimson and cobalt blue then add other dark colors to give interesting look.

The art can be done anywhere since colors can be transported easily when doing outdoor painting like when traveling. Small sets of these colors are there in the stores, packed in miniature water containers with their brushes. When traveling, one just carries drawing pencils, additional water containers, a pad and a towel and you are go to go.

Additionally, the colors are non-flammable, odorless, and non-toxic, dry quickly and dissolve more easily in water, not forgetting they are disposable. To develop art work together with artists, abstract watercolor painting should be appreciated. This will motivate them as well as encourage them to come up with more quality work.
