Detailed Information About Dr. Phillip Romero

By Crystal Salazar

Dr. Phillip Romero is a psychiatrist. He is a brain coach and a specialist who deals with relationship stress. He has an experience of over 25 years in his career. He has worked with families, couples and many individuals in his lifetime. He also trained people in child psychiatry when he was an assistant professor of Psychiatry in both Cornell Medical School and New York Presbyterian hospital.

Phillip got his interest in medicine and art from his father. By the age of 8 his father taught him how to create 3D illusions by using lines of perspective and vanishing points. His father was a dentist by profession and this contributed to Phillips interest in medicine. He also liked art and he loved great works of Leonardo Da Vinci while he was still very young.

By the time he began his first year in medical school he had already started his career in art. He studied at the University of Texas Medical Branch Galveston. While pursuing his studies he met many great teachers and friends who encouraged him as he did medical research. He emerged with a different view of vulnerability in relationship stress after more than 25 years of practicing Family psychiatry.

He juggled between family life and his two careers. This became difficult and with time he became stressed. Even after having accomplished many goals in his life he suffered a breakdown due to chronic stress in the late 90s. He had become too disconnected to people who could help him and he had more work than he could handle.

After the breakdown he enrolled for a recovery program for physicians at the New York Medical Society. He took part in the program for about 2 years. This helped him to get back on his feet and reconnect with his family and himself too. He learnt how to manage stress and reunited with his daughter. Through the program he appreciated the need for help and connecting with people in a positive and emotional way.

Later in 2005 he was diagnosed with cancer of the tongue. All what he had learned in life started to make sense then. He understood the deepest corners of his soul and this helped him to get remission from tongue cancer.

He had undergone the training back in the year 1988. It was a training that integrated three topics which were very interesting to him. The topics covered stress and development neuroscience, adaptive and creative resilience to adversities of life as well as the practice of meditation and Buddhist philosophy and psychology. During his experience with cancer he was able to use this knowledge to help him overcome it.

He developed deep empathy for patients because he had already been in their shoes when he suffered tongue cancer and chronic stress. He wrote a book by the name Phantom Stress: Brain Training To Master Relationship Stress. This book introduces people to Logosoma training. People who would like to have an appointment with Dr. Phillip Romero can book an appointment through a phone call or an email. His office is located in New York
