What One May Get From Beginner Guitar Videos

By Juliette Cruz

Everyone would like to learn how to play an instrument so that they can have a worthwhile hobby that they enjoy. Usually, people would go far the guitar because it is the easiest and most practical musical instrument. A very easy way to learn how to play it without spending on lessons is to watch beginner guitar videos.

The internet is a wonderful source for video clips like these. Youtube and google videos have thousands of tutorials for aspiring guitarists. Do remember though that these kinds of clips can teach only the basics of guitar playing. If one would want to go deeper, then he would probably need some real lessons.

Now others would suggest that one would buy a book on learning the foundation of playing this instrument, but it is very clear that watching a video about it is better. This is simply because watching a clip is like getting an actual lesson. The only difference is that the instructor will not stop to answer questions.

Usually, a basic guitar tutorial video consists of four parts. The introduction, primary chords, and finally, basic finger plucking, and tuning. So once the learner masters these aspects, then he will be able to learn the rest on his own.

The introduction would be tackling the different parts of the guitar. It is important to know the different parts so that when one wants to inquire guitars, then he will know the terminology. Also, he must know the kinds of strings and the frets on the instrument because each section has its own unique sound when held. So the tutorial will focus more on the theory part of the lesson and will show the beginners what each string sounds like. This will enable them to get a feel on what this instrument will sound like when played.

After that, the next parts would concentrate more on the application of the theories. One will first learn how to play chords, or combinations of notes that make a particular melody when played together. He will learn the major chords, the minor chords, and eventually the power chords which add a heavier feel to the strumming.

So after learning how to play the chords, it is time to go to move on to finger plucking. If one would want to play well, then he cannot only know how to strum but he must master finger plucking as well. Of course the video will provide some exercises that will make the finger movement of a person much faster.

A short tutorial on tuning, which is usually found at the end of the video, is not actually found in all beginner guitar videos. It can be added in the last part though because some people wonder why their guitars are out of tune. This is probably because the tuning is not suited for the song that they are playing and should be changed so that it will sound good.
