An Elvis Party Is A Terrific Way To Have a Great Time

By Jeff Commerford

If you are thinking about having a themed party, an Elvis party might be a fun one to go with. You have Elvis music and movies for entertainment and there is a plethora of "Elvis favorites" you could serve up as food and snacks at your party. Because Elvis is such a well-known person it is easy to get decorations.

There are plenty of entertaining activities and games that you can play at an Elvis party. You could take an Elvis CD and play the 1st few bars of a tune and then have your guests try to name that song; or play a portion of a song then pause it and have people try to finish the line. You can also study some information about Elvis and create a number of questions for a trivia game or a quiz with a prize. Here is a bit of information about Elvis that you could use to generate some trivia cards or questions.

Elvis Presley arrived on the American music scene in 1956, although he'd been well-known locally around Memphis for a while beforehand. He promptly became identified with the new rock'n'roll music and teenagers just about everywhere took him to their hearts. His sensual performing style got his female fans into a frenzy, which in the beginning prompted much criticism in the media - but the subsequent publicity did his career no harm at all. Following his being drafted and service in the U.S. Army, without favors or complaint, thoughts and opinions concerning him in the press began to switch, and on his return his new, mature style helped him be able to reach an even wider audience.

Not satisfied with being perhaps the world's most well-known singer, he also went into acting and soon took Hollywood by storm. During his career he was in 31 movies - all of these were a success at the box office - and in the middle of the 1960s he was the best paid actor in Hollywood. Soon after he returned to doing concerts in the 1970s his shows in Las Vegas were legendary, and he was soon known as the "World's Greatest Entertainer".

One of Elvis's favorite snacks was peanut butter and banana sandwiches. If you're planning on having an Elvis party this snack is a must. The best way to make them is to first toast the bread, then spread on peanut butter. Next slice the bananas and place them on the peanut butter. It is a terrific snack that will definitely put a smile on the faces of your guests.

If you want to kick back and relax, you can finish out the party with an Elvis flick, or, if you've got a little bit more rowdy crowd, you could try a little Elvis karaoke or an "Elvis hips" contest in which you see who is able to imitate Elvis's dancing and those famous hips.

An Elvis party can definitely be loads of fun and leave your friends talking about your party for years to come. It will be one of a kind and original and most likely different than any other party your friends have ever been invited to. "It's now or never", deliver those invites and hopefully you will not receive them back with "return to sender" stamped on them.
