The Popularity Of Martial Arts Movies

Martial arts was created more than 2000 years ago and has since become a very popular trend due to its use in hundreds of martial arts movies. Over 200 types of fighting styles exist and more than 100 are taught across the world. The movie industry has made it so that this fighting style has become very popular.

Within the mainstream, this style of fighting is constantly seen in blockbuster after blockbuster and even in the cult following of many Asian films by westerners. The public perceives this form of fighting as it is performed in western films and look up to fighting stars like Jet Li, Jean Claude Van Damme, Steven Seagal, Chuck Norris, Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee.

These actors have dedicated years to the pursuit of mastering this fighting style and have used them within many of the movies they have acted in. In the film Drunken Master, Jackie Chan exhibits his unique fighting style. This has been said to be one of Chan's best roles. Released in 1978, Drunken Master is still a very loved and popular movie today. Using his acting and fighting skills, Jackie Chan has been able to become one of the West's most popular martial art stars.

Chan is a beloved actor whose comedic fighting style has become a profound and entertaining technique. In the film Drunken Master, released in 1978, Chan plays a man searching for a drunken master who will help him train in order to save his school and teacher. Actors and men like Jackie Chan have made these kinds of movies popular and has led many people to learn the craft.

Because of these films and their entertaining and eye catching fighting moves they have successfully appealed to the general public and have been doing so for over 30 years, when these films first began to be recognized by the Western world. Nowadays, Hollywood keeps producing martial art movies and often times lists one highly talented fighter against many evil men and women. One such movie was Karate Kid which later won a Golden Globe and received nominations from the Academy Awards. Karate Kid was a great Western film which made martial arts even more popular in its time.

These films can be separated into their own genres. Some are serious. Some are violence packed. Some are even comical. This style of fighting is what draws patrons to this growing phenomenon. Movie directors and actors work together in making these fight scenes memorable and impressive in order to keep the interest of the public.

Bruce Lee is often called a legend due to his unforgettable performance in Enter the Dragon. His fighting styles have a way to capture the audience. Jet Li, another famous actor has performed in movies such as Fearless, The Fist of Legend and Kiss the Dragon. He is also well known for his daring and complex style of fighting. Western actor Steven Seagal is another popular martial artist whose Aikido style is amongst the best.

Marital arts has become a popular sub-culture amongst fans and movie goers due to the stylized and entertaining insurgence of martial arts movies.
