Halloween naturally a fun filled season. Not mainly for kids but also for grownups in addition. After all, what person doesn't have fun with getting dressed up as his or her preferred ghoul, goblin, hero, or bad guy, and step out trick-or-treating or to a Halloween social gathering. Halloween can be an celebration popular throughout the world and in virtually every region as there are seasonal and religious associations which are common. It has been in existence for pretty much 500 years.

There's some speculation over the beginnings of Halloween(not the name) but the celebration. A few historians link it to the Roman feast of Pomona, who was the goddess of fruits and seeds. Some others believe it commenced as Parentalia, the "festival of the dead". It is nonetheless, more often associated with the Celtic festival known as Samhain, a Gaelic event which remembers the conclusion of the summer months.

Naturally the name "Halloween" is more popularly related to the Scottish variant of "All-Hallows-Eve", or, the night before All-Hallows-Day or All Saints day. It started in 1556, and over the decades All-Hallows-Eve grew to become Halloween. Halloween is October 31st, and it is recognized worldwide, however its not all cultures memorialize on this time frame. Certain nations enjoy on the 2nd Tuesday in December.

Halloween has a great deal of symbolism and imagery which has changed over the years many cultures and movements have contributed to it. Most significantly are the Jack-o'-lantern, Dracula, ghosts, death, evil, and dark scary themes. Black and orange are Halloween's official colors. Halloween has spawned an entire industry of costume manufacturers and every year the latest craze of popular movies and characters contributes to offerings.

There's also numerous activities that have become customs of Halloween. Trick-or-treating is among the most popular. Kids all over the country dress up and go house to house in their neighborhoods collecting candy and treats. There are Halloween get-togethers, prank playing, games such as bobbing for apples, and attending haunted houses & graveyards.

Favorite foods at Halloween are candy or caramel apples, candy corn, popcorn, apple cider, and baked pumpkin seeds. Many other cultures have traditional foods they prepare for instance Ireland's barmbrack that's a fruit bread.

Halloween symbolizes the season of the harvest and the conclusion of summer. Fall or Autumn in the northern hemisphere is when the weather turns cool and cultures harvest their crops in preparation of winter. Many people claim it is their favorite season citing cooler weather, back to school, the beginning of the American Football season, and many other reasons. All in all it is a great time and remains an important part of the calendar year.
