How To Prepare Songs For Online Song Mastering

By Laura Gallagher

It is quite important to prepare songs before they can be sent for online song mastering. Of course, to prepare the songs for it means that the person will need to mix the songs first. Mixing may require technical knowledge so the person will have to do his own research for this.

It is necessary to have the songs mixed. If not, the person will have to go through the whole process. His end product should be mixed down to a stereo format too. Most of the times, the stereo format has a 44.1 to 48 khz with 24 bit wav.

If he is done with the mixing, he will have to determine whether he will send the material to a good facility or if he will master the track himself. The former will require money while the latter will require a reliable and powerful audio editing tool.

With the audio editor, he should bring the track into his DAW. Place plugins such as stereo field enhancement, parametric EQ, and master limiting plugins into the required track effects slot. Learn how to use these plugins well.

Get to work immediately. Listen to the sound properly. Of course, he has to master the track until he is satisfied with the result. If he is, he should then render it. See to it that the mastered track is rendered to another stereo file.

Of course, he will then have to open the his new file on a new DAW project. He will have to check for any clippings existing on the said track. The clippings are usually those signal levels in the track that are exceeding over -0.1 decibels.

With this, he should have finished with the online song mastering. The songs are now ready to be recorded to a CD, music video, or mp3. He can also send his masterpiece to iTunes or any other music distribution service.
